There are several ways to check on the progress of a filing, whether made by you,
by some one else on your behalf, served on you, or filed by someone else in a
proceeding which you find interesting.
When you have filed on your own behalf, arguably the best way is to locate the
filing on the Filings tab of the Filing Center. However, you may want to see
a more direct confirmation of your filing. You can do this on the Messages tab
of the filing center (see figure 1).
Figure 1
The system automatically sends you messages under a variety of circumstances,
which you may use to confirm that filings were received, filings filed on your
behalf, filings were served upon you and a large number of other circumstances.
When a message first appears on the messages tab it is displayed in bold text.
Clicking on a message allows you to see more detail about the message. Once you
have clicked on a message and viewed it, its entry on the messages tab is no
longer bold, indicating that you have already viewed it.
You also have the option of deleting messages that are no longer of any interest
or value to you by checking the appropriate check box to the left of the message's
subject field and pressing the Delete button.
You have the option of having a copy of each message forwarded to your email address.
You accomplish this be setting a
preference.
Another way to keep tabs on filings is to check the Recipients Viewed field located on
the Filings tab in your filing center. This information tells you how many of the
intended recipients have viewed a filing. If you would like to know which recipients have
viewed the filing, click on the hot link under Recipients Viewed to bring up the service
of process details for the filing (see figure 2).
Figure 2
The system displays who has viewed the filing
and how long it has been since the filing has been served. The email address of
each recipient is also available in the event you wish to contact any recipient.
Finally, you have the option of viewing the activity in a proceeding in which you
are currently a participant by looking at the proceedings tab on the filing center.
Clicking on the title of a proceeding shows you a wealth of information, including all
of the documents and all of the recipients of service of process to date (see figure 3).
Figure 3
The title of each document provides you with access (via hot link) to a .pdf version of the actual
document filed. (you must have Adobe's PDF plug-in viewer installed on your
system to view PDF documents).
