Search
Use the Search page to find filings, proceedings, decisions and meetings (see figure 1).

To begin a new search, click on the New Search located to the left hand side of the screen. Fill in the fields with the values you want to search for and click the Run button. The system searches the database to find the information that you have requested.

Here are some hints to help you search more efficiently:
  • In general, the more options you specify, the narrower the results will be. If you find that you're just not getting the results you want, try loosening up the search and specifying fewer search options.
Saving Searches

E-Filings allows you to save your searches so that you may run them again later without having to remember and enter the options you entered previously.
To save a search, press the save button located in the lower right-hand corner of the search control. A dialog box appears. Enter the name of your search and press OK. Hint: Choose your search names carefully, especially if you intend to save a lot of them. Choose one or two words that uniquely describe the search.

Decision Options
To search for decisions made by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, choose the Decisions option from the Search for drop down box.

In addition to the standard search options, several additional fields are provided to help you quickly locate the decision you are looking for:
OptionDescription
Decision Number Each decision issued by the Commission is identified by a unique number. If you know the number, you may enter it here.
Decision Type The decision types are
  • Commission: A decision of the Commission in a proceeding. Some are Final decisions of the Commission for which RRR can be filed.
  • Commission Interim: Used rarely, the commission interim decision is used to allow parties to file exceptions to a Commission Decision.
  • Interim: An Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) decision made during the course of a proceeding.
  • Recommended: A final decision of an ALJ, recommending a decision for the Public Utilities Commission.
Mailed After If you want to see only those decisions that were mailed out after a given date, enter the cutoff date here.
Mailed Before If you want to see only those decisions that were mailed out prior to a given date, enter the cutoff date here.
Author If you know the name of the judge or commission member that issued the decision, enter it here.


Filing Options
To search for filings, choose the Filings option from the Search for drop down box.

In addition to the standard search options, several additional fields are provided to help you quickly locate the filing(s) you are looking for (if you're not sure what to enter for a specific field, leave it blank):
OptionDescription
Document Type Choose a type of document that was included in the filling. If you're not sure what type of document was filed, leave the field alone or select the option entitled Choose one.
Filing Party Enter the name of the person that originally made the filing.
Search Document Body Check this box if you want to the system to search the document body for your keywords, in addition to the title.
Include Only Filings I Made Check this box if you want to see only those filings created by you.
Filed After If you want to see only those filings that were filed after a given date, enter the cutoff date here.
Filed Before If you want to see only those filings that were filed prior to a given date, enter the cutoff date here.
Filing Number If you know the name of the judge or commission member that issued the decision, enter it here.


Proceeding Options
To search for proceedings, choose the Proceedings option from the Search for drop down box.

In addition to the standard search options, several additional fields are provided to help you quickly locate the proceedings(s) you are looking for (if you're not sure what to enter for a specific field, leave it blank):

Docket Status Choose the status of the proceedings you want to locate. If you're not sure what type of status to choose, leave the field alone or select the option entitled Choose one.
Opened After If you want to see only those proceedings that were opened after a given date, enter the cutoff date here.
Opened Before If you want to see only those proceedings that were opened prior to a given date, enter the cutoff date here.


Meeting Options
To search for filings, choose the Meetings option from the Search for drop down box.

In addition to the standard search options, several additional fields are provided to help you quickly locate the meeting(s) you are looking for (if you're not sure what to enter for a specific field, leave it blank):

Meeting After If you want to see only those filings that were held after a given date, enter the cutoff date here.
Meeting Before If you want to see only those filings that were held prior to a given date, enter the cutoff date here.


Buttons
More/Fewer Options Displays/Hides the extra search options described above.
New Clears the options and restores the search page back to its original state.
Save Pops up a simple dialog box to accept the name of the search. When Ok is pressed, the saved search page is displayed.
Run Runs the search with the options you have specified and displays the results of the search beneath the search options.
