I need to file a document with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. How do I begin?

If you need to file a document in a docketed proceeding, but have never used the E-Filings system before, you first need to register. Use the Filer Registration option located on the left hand side of the screen. Once registered, use the File Document option on the navigation menu inside E-Filings.

Do I have to pay anything to use this service?

It is free to use the Colorado Public Utilities Commission's E-Filings system. There is a statutory fee to file certain types of transportation application documents, including new common or contract authority, extensions of common or contract authority, transfers of common or contract authority, or leases of common or contract authority, in any combination. The fee to submit these types of filings is $35.00 per submission. You may file multiple documents in a single submission for the same $35.00 fee.

No other fees apply.

Will I need special software or hardware in order to use the E-Filings System?

You will need Internet access and a standard Internet browser to use the online system. No other special software or hardware is required. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later is strongly recommended.

When is the E-Filings system available?

With the exception of maintenance, the online E-Filings system is accessible 24 hours per day.

How do I obtain access to the E-Filings System?

Searching PUC records is available to all. To access the additional features within E-Filings, you must have a valid account. Use the Filer Registration option located toward the left hand side of the screen to sign up.

How long will it take for my new Logon ID to be accepted by E-Filings?

You generally are able to access the E-Filings system immediately after signing up.

What if I can't remember my Logon ID or Password?

If you have a valid online account for the E-Filings System, you can use the Password Reminder option located toward the left hand side of the screen to receive an email reminder. This reminder will be sent to the email address on file for your online account.

Can I use the same Logon ID and account if I move to a new firm?

Assuming you are not a Filer Administrator, the answer is Yes. Simply update your Profile information.

Why has my Logon ID stopped working?

Accounts that have not had any activity for 24 months will be deactivated. You must contact the Administrator to re-activate your account.

Are my online transactions secure and private?

Aside from searching publicly available information, access to the online system is available only to those individuals with a valid Logon ID and Password. Starting with the logon page, all transactions sent to and from the online system are encrypted. All passwords and other sensitive information are stored in an encrypted form.

What will the personal information entered when I created my online account be used for?

Your personal information (name, phone number, email address, etc.) will only be used by the online system and the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to correspond with you concerning Commission business.

What should I do if I encounter a system error?

If you encounter a system error, please contact the E-Filings Administrator at Colorado Public Utilities Commission. Please be ready to provide as much information about the error as possible. Include any specific error messages that were displayed, what action caused the error, etc.
