Intrastate Property Carrier (PRC) Permits Cancelled

As of August 4, 2009, The Colorado Public Utilities Commission has no jurisdiction over intrastate for-hire transportation of property.
All property carrier permits (PRC) have been cancelled.

Hazardous Material, Towing, and Household Goods Mover permits are still required.

"Electronic Filing at the PUC"

The Public Utilities Commission has launched a new, voluntary electronic filing system. The new system, once fully implemented, will reduce paperwork, cut costs and be much more convenient for filing parties.

For an interim period hard copy filings remain the official files while we work to ensure that all features of the system are working as expected. After the initial phase, all filings may be exclusively submitted and distributed electronically.

Among the benefits of the electronic filing system:

  • There is no cost to use this system.
  • Paper filings will be unnecessary, but remain an option.
  • Lag time between submission and receipt of filings is eliminated.
  • The system is available 24 hours per day.
  • Tools and reports allow filers to review and manage filings.
  • Search functionality allows users access to PUC documents.

Access the Electronic Filing System by clicking HERE, or by pressing the like named button to the left.

The Commission has commenced rulemaking to implement a web-based process for the electronic submission of filings, pleadings, and other papers and service of process in docketed proceedings. Click HERE to access the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in regard to amendments to our Rules of Practice and Procedure for implementing E-Filing.
