Peer Assistance

Colorado State Board of Pharmacy Peer Health Assistance Diversion Program:

  • The program is available to all licensed Colorado pharmacists and interns who have physical, emotional, psychological, or substance abuse problems.

  • Program services provided include evaluation, assessment and referral, treatment monitoring, support groups and prevention education programs.

  • There is no fee for evaluation, assessment and referral or treatment monitoring. These program services are funded for Colorado pharmacists and their families through a portion of license fees. Fees for treatment, therapy or drug testing services are the responsibility of the pharmacist or intern.

  • The Colorado State Board of Pharmacy contracts with Peer Assistance Services, Inc. to provide services.

  • Anyone may make a referral to Peer Assistance Services.


The program is confidential and anonymity can be assured unless:

  • The pharmacist is referred to the program by the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy
  • There has been a violation of the Pharmacy Practice Act
  • The pharmacist is noncompliant with the Pharmacist Rehabilitation Contract

Other program support services offered:

  • Educational presentations regarding problem recognition and prevention
  • Assistance in identifying problems
  • Support for the affected pharmacist and family members
  • Technical assistance to pharmacy mangers and supervisors
