
Overview of the Nursing Home Administrators Board
The Board licenses nursing home administrators in an effort to provide a measure of protection to nursing home residents by ensuring quality administration and sound management of nursing homes.
Nursing home administrators are individuals who are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the operations of a nursing home. The Board administers a nursing home administrator-in-training program and is responsible for the licensing and discipline of nursing home administrators.
The Board determines educational requirements, training and examination requirements for Colorado's nursing home administrators. The Board regulates practitioners and imposes discipline on those licensees that do not comply with the standards set by law (Nursing Home Administrators Practice Act).
The Board is composed of 5 individuals appointed by the Governor: 3 nursing home administrators and 2 public members. The Board has a full time professional staff. Legal services are provided by the State Attorney Generals' office.

As of January 18, 2012, there were 471 active nursing home administrators.
