Delegation of Medical Tasks

The Medical Practice Act allows physicians to delegate any medical task (except prescribing) to persons who are appropriately qualified to carry out the task by virtue of experience, education or training. Any person so delegated a medical task, must be under the personal, responsible direction and supervision of a Colorado licensed physician. No registration or certification is required for these parties, however, they are not allowed to practice independently and may not prescribe medications.

Refer to Board Rule 800 for more information.
