Primary Source Verification
The Colorado Medical Board primary-source verifies the medical education and training of all physicians who obtain a Colorado medical license.
The information
provided on this website and on the Automated
License Information System Online (ALISON) is accurate to the
best of our ability. To verify the timeliness of the information,
the date the information was last updated is displayed in the lower
left corner of each web page. The information on ALISON is "real-time."
This means it is retrieved directly from the Division of Registrations
licensing database at the time a license inquiry is made.
The following are the basic items that are verified before a physician is licensed to practice medicine in Colorado.
A doctor who has graduated from an international medical school is required to verify passage of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) exam, provide information about the medical school attended, and verify 3 years of ACGME/AOA approved postgraduate training.
The Board may request more information before granting a license.
