System for Electronic Rates and Forms Filings (SERFF) Changes:

As of January 1, 2008, Colorado requires that all rate and loss cost filings MUST be submitted electronically through SERFF.  We are offering a few suggestions to make your SERFFing more effective and efficient for both your company and the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI).

The Division of Insurance is charged by statute with supervising the business of insurance in Colorado to ensure that it is conducted in accordance with the laws of this state and in such a manner as to protect policyholders and the general public.  This oversight includes but is not limited to the various types of insurance companies, fraternal benefit societies, title insurance companies, and healthcare companies.  In addition, the Division regulates non-traditional entities such as governmental self-insurance pools, captives, Limited Service Licensed Provider Networks and preneed contract sellers.  Plans for self insurance of motor vehicles and financial responsibility requirements for health care institutions and providers are also reviewed.  As such, the Division of Insurance provides information about a variety of insurance-related topics for Insurance companies and other regulated entities on its website.  Links are provided from this page to information about various topics of interest related to the regulation of this industry.
