Consumer complaints against any of the institutions regulated by the Division of Banking must be submitted in writing. When completing the complaint form, please provide as much detailed information as possible and fill the form out in its entirety.

The following information is essential and will aid in the expedient resolution of the complaint:

  • The name of the institution and the name of any person(s) at the institution with whom the complainant has had contact. Include telephone number(s) and addresses.
  • A complete description of the complaint and any efforts that have been made to resolve the complaint directly with the institution.
  • Copies of any available documentation supporting the complaint and efforts toward resolution.
  • Preferred resolution of the complaint.

A referral letter will be sent to the regulated institution, along with a copy of the complaint, and the institution will be will requested to respond in a timely manner. Upon receipt of the institution's response, the complaint and response will be reviewed by the Division of Banking. Upon completion of this review, the Division of Banking will respond to the complainant, with a copy to the regulated institution, explaining the findings and resolution of the complaint.


Institutions Regulated

The Colorado Division of Banking (Division) is the regulatory agency for Colorado state-chartered commercial banks, industrial banks, and trust companies; and Colorado licensed money transmitter companies. In addition, the Division administers the Public Deposit Protection Act.
