Qualifications for Licensure as an Audiologist or a Hearing Aid Provider
Audiology and Hearing Aid Providers Licensure regulates both occupations.

  • An audiologist is an individual with a master's degree or doctorate in Audiology who holds either a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association or Board Certification in Audiology from the American Board of Audiology. Individuals who have completed their degree but have not yet completed the post-graduate practice to qualify for certification and full licensure are issued temporary licensure as clinical fellows.

  • To qualify for licensure as a hearing aid provider, an individual must be board certified by the National Board for Certification for Hearing Instrument Sciences. Individuals obtaining the necessary knowledge and experience to qualify for the certifying examination are licensed as trainees.
