License Renewal Information. All architect licenses expire on October 31 of odd-numbered years. Renewal forms are mailed to the last known address on file approximately six (6) weeks prior to the expiration date.


Definitions:
  • Original License by Examination. You are applying to take an examination in order to qualify for licensure in Colorado.
  • Original License by Transfer of Grades. You have passed all divisions of the ARE and are applying for licensure in Colorado, but you are not yet licensed in another jurisdiction.
  • Original License by Endorsement. You hold an active license in another state and wish to apply for licensure in Colorado.
  • Renew. You currently hold a Colorado license and are in a renewal period.
  • Reinstate. Your Colorado license has lapsed or expired and you wish to reinstate the license.
    (For purposes of licensure status, the terms "lapsed" and "expired" have the same meaning.)
  • Change Status. You hold an active Colorado license and wish to change the status to inactive.
  • Reactivate. You hold an inactive Colorado license and wish to have it returned to active status.
