State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ARCHITECT LICENSE RENEWAL ON October 31, 2013

The State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers & Professional Land Surveyors developed a CE process that allows a licensee to demonstrate continued competency and their ability to learn, integrate and apply the knowledge, skill and judgment to practice architecture according to generally accepted industry standards and professional ethical standards.

For the next license renewal period ending October 31, 2013, an Architect shall complete 12 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) each calendar year (2012 and 2013 for a total of 24 CEHs). A CEH must be a structured educational effort and consist of not less than fifty (50) minutes of actual instruction, presentation or activity in Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) subjects and must meet other criteria outlined in rule 4.9.3.1.2 of the Bylaws, Rules and Policies of the State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Professional Land Surveyors.

An important component of this program requires that the acceptable CE activity include a documented process or procedure that demonstrates retention.  This documentation may be in the form of an examination, quiz or test given at the conclusion of the activity or can be documented on the CE Structured Form.

You will not send in your CE documentation at the time of your license renewal.  You will be asked to attest that you have complied with the requirement to complete CE at the time of your license renewal.
