Examining Board of Plumbers

Apprentice Information

An individual interested in becoming a plumbing apprentice should contact their employer (a registered plumbing contractor) about specific apprentice training. Once you begin working as an apprentice, your employer must complete the application for registration. Registration is a requirement to validate plumbing experience for licensure and to comply with state law. However, it is your responsibility to carry your state issued apprentice registration card at all times while you are working in the trade. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action against your record.

Apprentice Registration / Termination Process
When an apprentice is initially registered with the Board, they receive a card with a registration number. This number will remain the same throughout any employment changes.

Each time that an apprentice changes employers, a new registration application must be completed and submitted to this office to ensure the apprentice's registration is current and accurate. The current employer's name is printed on the new card. A fee is required for the registration and the printing of a new card.

It is the policy of the Examining Board of Plumbers that plumbing contractors notify the Board within thirty days after the termination of a plumbing apprentice by submitting a termination application. NOTE: The application to register an apprentice and terminate employment is the same application; however, there is no fee incurred to terminate an apprentice’s record.
