Status of, and Prospects for Geothermal Energy in Colorado

On October 10, 2007, the Staff of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission hosted a Commissioners’ Information Meeting to brief the Commissioners on the status of, and prospects for, geothermal energy development in Colorado. 

Experts from the Staff, Colorado Geological Survey, Department of Energy, utilities, and developers made presentations to educate the Commissioners, and address Commissioners’ questions, concerning the nature and extent of Colorado’s geothermal resources, geothermal electricity generation, direct use of geothermal resources, prospective applications using geothermal resources, and the statutory and regulatory landscape.
