PERMIT FEE CHANGE EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2009

Beginning September 1, 2009, the State Electrical permits fee schedule will be adjusted for all residential and commercial installations.

As an agency that is required to cover its expenditures with revenues, a change in permit structure is necessary due to recent and future projected shortfalls in permit income.

CONTINUING COMPETENCY WORKGROUP

The State Electrical Board will begin holding Workgroup meetings to develop and recommend rules for continuing competency as required by House Bill 09-1136. Ten industry representatives were selected from 40+ applicants to form a Workgroup that will begin meeting and advancing through this process.

The first meeting of the Workgroup will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. This and all future meetings will be part of the monthly scheduled board meetings.  Continue to consult our Website to stay informed. As the process proceeds, we will be adding Workgroup meeting minutes, a FAQ section that will provide you with valuable answers, and other information to keep licensees informed.

Adoption of the 2008 National Electrical Code

On May 19, 2008, the 2008 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) was adopted by the Colorado State Electrical Board. The 2008 NEC will become the minimum standard for the State of Colorado effective August 1, 2008. This code will be the standard used by all state electrical inspectors for permits issued on or after August 1, 2008. On August 1, 2008 the Board's examination vendor, Pearson VUE, will begin testing on the 2008 NEC. We are anticipating that Pearson VUE will have the new candidate handbooks available no later than June 30, 2008.
