Recent Legislation
Legislation passed during the 2011 Legislative Session impacts the Division of Registrations. The Division is developing an implementation process at this time. Please check back in the near future to learn about any changes to rules, requirements and important deadlines.
Fee Adjustments for FY12
On October 1, 2011, the State Electrical Board adjusted permit fees. As an agency required to cover its expenditures with revenues, a change in fee structure is necessary due to recent and future projected shortfalls in income. Continuing Competency
House Bill 09-1136 enacts continuing competency requirements to electricians who apply to renew, reinstate or reactive their license on or after January 1, 2011. The affected license types are: Residential Wireman, Journeyman, and Master Electricians.

New Apprentice Training Requirements
House Bill 09-1136 enacts new training requirements for apprentices registered on or after January 1, 2011 and who are seeking a Journeyman license. Apprentices registering on or after January 1, 2011 must complete existing criteria and an additional 288 hours of training prior to taking the exam. The 288 hours of training must be in: safety; National Electric Code and applications, and; any other accredited/approved Board requirements.

Inspection Schedule* Now Available Online
In an effort to increase the performance of your online permit account, we have added the following enhancement. Once your inspection has been scheduled by the inspector, you can access that information from your online account. Normally, your inspection should appear on the schedule within 3 days of receipt of your request OR on the regularly-scheduled inspection day for your area. For more specific information click here.

State Inspection Program Update
According to §12-23-116(8), C.R.S. local jurisdictions may commence or cease performing electrical inspections in their respective jurisdiction by providing written notice of their intent to the Board before October 1st of the preceding calendar year.
During the November 22, 2010 Electrical Board meeting, the Board approved the following jurisdiction to assume the electrical permit and inspection functions within their respective jurisdictions, effective July 1, 2011:
