Overview of the Dental Board

As a part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies, the Board determines educational requirements, training and examination requirements for Colorado's dentists and dental hygienists. The Board regulates practitioners and imposes discipline on those licensees that do not comply with the standards set by law (Dental Practice Act).

The Board is composed of 13 individuals appointed by the Governor: 7 dentists, 3 dental hygienists, and 3 public members. The Board has a full time professional staff. Legal services are provided by the Department of Law, which is under the State Attorney Generals' office.
