Red Flags to Avoid Identity Theft |
- Shred documents containing personal information before discarding
- Do not include your Social Security number on your checks
- Review your credit card statements and contact the issuer if you find charges listed that you did not make
- Do not give out personal information over the phone or on the Internet to people you don't know
- Incorporate numbers and symbols in your passwords to prevent deciphering by others
